An insightful take on what our total immersion in technology is doing to us. No surprises that this comes from one of the finest writers of our generation

Remember the ballsy octopus in Finding Dory? This piece is the loveliest thing I’ve read on the creature, heck, the loveliest thing I’ve read this entire year. Few samples of scientific writing are this moving

Every story is the same. Respected Youtube ‘explainer’ Will Schoder shows us that all good storytelling employs the same elements and uses popular Hollywood films to make his point. A must watch for brand stakeholders, writers and film makers

Andrea Beaty’s books make perfect Christmas presents for little girls. You could buy one or all of the set- Rosie Revere, Engineer, Ada Twist, Scientist or Iggy Peck, Architect

Loving this reinvention of Punjabi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi and singer Surinder Kaur’s folk classic Akh Kashni set to late-90’s music and husky vocals. The song, which means either Beautiful Eyes, Blue Eyes, or Hazel Eyes, is a newly married woman’s furious monologue about everything that pisses her off about her in laws’ home. You can find annotated lyrics here– just click on the highlighted parts. There’s another gorgeous version; I love the video. You can hear the original here

Image- Bhumika Arora for Bobbi Brown. I love everything about this chori from Karnal, Haryana. Her magnificent eyebrows that seem to have a life of their own, the fact that her career’s blossomed at an age no ambitious woman wants to be unfulfilled at. It’s reassuring to know the world’s not coming to an end because you haven’t yet won a Nobel-equivalent into your thirties. 🙂
